Update after Government Announcement

Good afternoon SAS Participants,

The government’s announcement to End Proof of Vaccination in Saskatchewan has been reviewed by our board.

The following was determined for Saskatoon Adult Soccer:

1. The Vaccination Policy remains effective for league games throughout the remaining weeks of the Indoor 2021-2022 season. Teams were formed and participated in the league this season based on the policy being implemented. We avoid changing rules mid-season as consideration of the teams and players. (On occasion, and to be fully transparent, we have altered small rules during the season when it is beneficial to the teams/players. I.e.: Permits. The Vaccination Policy is not a small rule.)

2. The Just for Kicks tournament will not require proof of vaccination (POV) to participate. The team entry deadline is March 2, 2022, and therefore teams can join or withdraw without penalty until that date. Having removed the POV requirement before the JFK registration deadline allows teams to enter (or withdraw) based on current information.

We hope you understand the weight of these conversations and decisions. The polarizing opinions throughout our community have impacted us all, and SAS is no exception. Our goal is to provide an opportunity to play soccer, have fun, be safe; all while maintaining our integrity, protocols, and rules.
